With the constant change in technology, buying a new mattress has never been easier. It all comes down to factoring in a few things based on what you want and not what looks good.
As with any major purchase for your home, it is important to keep a few things in mind. When you head into any one of our showrooms in Braybrook, Craigieburn, Essendon, Hoppers Crossing, Nunawading, Pakenham or Ballarat, you will be asked a series of basic questions to help our expert sales staff find the right mattress for you.
To help you prepare for this, here are a few tips on what you will be asked:
FEEL OF MATTRESS:
Do you prefer a soft, medium or firm feel mattress? If you find these 3 categories a little too broad for you, at our factory in Melbourne, we design beds to suit in between feels such as soft-medium, medium-firm, ultra firm, etc. Understanding the level of comfort you feel as you lie down on the mattress is the first thing to keep in mind.
TYPE OF MATTRESS:
Is it time to upgrade to a pocket spring mattress, or maybe even an adjustable bed, or is it time to get a bigger mattress? These are all things you should decide before coming into the showroom so that our staff can point you in the right direction. Sometimes shopping for your new mattress is more about solving a problem in your bedroom rather than just a simple upgrade.
SUPPORT IN THE MATTRESS:
This aspect of the mattress ultimately relies on the technology within the mattress, as well as how you feel as you lay on it. This is also the one area where price is often overlooked because this can determine whether or not your mattress supports your body for only a few years, or for the next 20 years. The last thing you want is to buy a mattress that soon becomes like a hammock as you slowly dip into the centre. One of our great everyday deals we offer at Chiropedic Bedding is up to 20 years warranty on selected mattresses! It will certainly take the guess work out when deciding “Will this mattress support me for many years to come?”
As we all know too well, apartments and homes are getting smaller which means most of us face some serious storage problems. When upgrading to a new mattress, you may want to also consider whether it’s time to also buy a new bed fitted with drawers to help solve some of those storage problems.
So how do you know when it’s time to buy a new mattress? Well if your mattress has a crater in the centre of the bed, then that is a clear sign to upgrade. Research shows that the average Australian buys a new mattress every 8 years. So if it’s been around 8 years and you just feel your mattress isn’t supporting your spine and back like it used to, keep these simple tips in mind and head down to any of our showrooms to begin the search for your next mattress!
